The dirtiest thing in most living rooms is the couch. Carpet gets vacuumed every week. The sofa gets a pillow fluff and maybe a lint roller before company comes, and meanwhile the arms and seat fronts soak up skin oil, sunscreen, popcorn butter and dog. After two or three years the fabric there is a shade darker and a little shiny. Most people think that's wear. Usually it's dirt.
Why a soaked couch is a bad couch
Furniture is harder to clean than carpet for one simple reason: there's foam inside. Put too much water into a cushion and it takes a day or more to dry, the dye in the fabric can wick up and leave brown rings, and the foam can start to smell. That risk is real anywhere, and worse in a Humble summer when the air is already wet.
Our system keeps moisture low the whole way through. The fabric gets clean and the inside of the cushion stays dry. Most pieces are ready to sit on within an hour or two.
The visit
- Your technician reads the cleaning code on the tag and checks the fabric: microfiber, cotton, linen, a wool blend, or something more delicate. They'll look at the spots and the worn areas and give you the price before starting.
- A good vacuum gets crumbs, pet hair and loose dust out of the seams and from under the cushions, where most of it hides.
- Spots and the oily areas on arms and headrests get pre-treated, after a test in a hidden spot to check that the dye holds.
- The carbonated cleaning solution goes on and lifts soil out of the weave.
- A light rinse takes off what's left, so nothing sticky stays behind to catch new dirt.
- The fabric is groomed so the nap dries in one direction, and you look it over with the technician.
What we clean
- Sofas, loveseats and sectionals, including the big L-shaped ones that won't fit through a cleaner's door anyway
- Recliners and rocker-recliners
- Dining chairs with fabric seats
- Ottomans, benches and headboards
- Office chairs
- Patio cushions, which in this part of Texas are often greener underneath than on top
Some pieces we may pass on. Silk and older fabrics whose dyes move on the test cloth are better left alone than risked, and you'll hear that before anything gets wet. Leather is outside our service entirely. We'd rather lose a job than ruin a chair you love.
Questions people ask in the living room
Can it get out the dog smell? General pet smell comes out with the cleaning. If the dog or cat has urinated on a cushion, though, the source is inside the foam, and that needs our pet odor treatment added so the enzyme can reach it.
Is the old sectional worth cleaning, or should we replace it? Clean it first. Furniture that's never been professionally cleaned tends to show the biggest change of anything we touch. If the fabric is genuinely worn through or the cushions have collapsed, cleaning won't change that, and your technician will say so.
How often? Every 12 to 18 months for most homes. Every 6 to 12 if you have pets on the furniture or someone in the house with allergies.
Booking
There's $25 off upholstery on the coupons page, and it pairs easily with carpet cleaning since we're already set up in the room. For a household with allergies, the antibacterial sanitizer can go on after the fabric is clean. Use the online scheduler, or phone 346-662-0980 with a list of the pieces so we can plan the time.
