Plum Grove roughly doubled in size between 2010 and 2020, and it hasn't slowed down much since. It's still rural. The city sits where FM 2090 meets FM 1010 out in Liberty County, about 40 miles northeast of downtown Houston, with the East Fork of the San Jacinto River close by. It's the far corner of our route, and we're happy to make the trip.
What makes Plum Grove different for us is the weather, or more exactly the roads in wet weather.
Rain changes the schedule
Heavy rain out here can put water over the streets. In January 2022 a storm left a lot of Plum Grove streets cut off for a while. That has two effects on carpet cleaning.
The first one is simple. If the roads are flooded on the day of your appointment, we'll call and move it. No fee, no fuss. We'd rather get there a day late than not at all, and you'd rather not watch a van try to ford a ditch.
The second takes a little more explaining. Right after a big storm, every yard is mud and everybody is tracking it in. Our honest advice is to wait a few days. If you clean the carpet the morning after a downpour, it's going to get muddy again by supper. Give the ground a couple of dry days, let the worst of the mess land on the mat, vacuum it out after it dries, and then call us. You'll get a lot more out of the visit.
A few habits that help in a place like this:
- Keep a stiff-bristled mat outside and a washable rug just inside the door you really use
- Let mud dry before you touch it, then break it up and vacuum it
- Put a towel by the back door for dogs on rainy days
- Call us if a pet accident happens during the storm; urine doesn't wait for the weather
When water actually gets inside
This is the one limit we're always clear about. If floodwater gets into the house and soaks the carpet, that's a restoration job, and the carpet and pad usually need to come out. River water carries things no cleaning solution is meant to handle. Once the house is dried out and new flooring is down, we're glad to keep it clean.
What we do on a normal day
Most calls from Plum Grove look like anywhere else on our route. Pet odor in a back bedroom. A living room that has gone dull in the traffic paths. An area rug that the dogs have claimed. A couch that's due.
The technician walks the house with you first and quotes the price before starting. Then the spots get pre-treated, the carpet gets cleaned with our soap-free, plant-based solution, and the extractor lifts the loosened dirt out without soaking anything. Rugs are cleaned right there in the house; we don't haul anything off. Pet odor gets an enzyme treatment that reaches the pad, since that's where it lives.
Families zoned for Cleveland ISD are in our coverage, and so are the acreage homes out on the county roads past city limits. The number is 346-662-0980, and it gets answered at 2 a.m. too. Online booking works as well.
